We are loving summer. One more week until we start up with camps and activities. So for now we're just enjoying the time at home.
One (late) morning this week, I grabbed my camera as soon as I woke up to take some pictures in the morning light.
Spencer wasn't quite ready to get up yet.
This tree and this window is my favorite. The window is in the stairwell and it looks out into our side yard. I love the way the water beads up and stays on the leaves in this redbud tree.
Love the morning light peeking in the kids' bedroom windows.
On Monday we bought a couple ferns to hang on the front porch. These little birds liked them right away.
A couple days later, I went to water them and found this! They are very industrious.
We went to several Springfield Cardinals games last year and so the kids were really excited to get to one this summer. The guys were asked to do the Beat the Parents segment between innings, loser gets a pie in the face.
Eli's question was what is the first month of the year. Then Thad's question was... the word January is based on the latin word for door, what is it? Eli got to pie him and won a Cardinals hat. He was on cloud nine all night.
Thursday night we had a pretty good thunderstorm. We had been on a walk and hurried home in the rain. The dogs were all wet so it seemed like a good time for them to get a bath. I was on the porch with Spencer while Thad was bathing Hank when lightning hit this tree in the neighbor's yard. It shook our house so much that the shower sprayer fell off the wall and conked Thad in the head.
Friday evening, hiding out upstairs while there's a boys sleepover going on downstairs. Not a bad view.
Thad took this one last night of Clara going on a walk with a new friend.
And today we are off to the zoo. Slow down summer! It feels like it's already going by too fast.
